CAREER PROFILE

I have spent 40 years working in various roles within Supply Chain, having started in the Stock Room of a clothing factory when I was 16, moved into Procurement and then ultimately end to end Supply Chain having responsibility for Order Entry and Demand Management, Planning, Production Control, Strategic and Tactical Procurement, Inventory Management and Material Movements as well as Inbound and Outbound Logistics. Additionally in the last 2 decades having added SAP projects to my skills which has seen me actively participate in implementations in various countries around the world. More recently, moved into business process improvements.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Over the last 7-8 of years I have become active in working with a volunteer/charity called Career Ready. This is an organisation aimed at helping students make the leap from education to employability. We teach skills such as CV writing, interview skills as well as soft skills like communication, networking, relationship building. We arrange site visits and internships to help give students the differentiator they need that will give them the best opportunity of employments as they leave the education system.

 

As such I am the Chairman of Advisory Boards in my home town of Stoke on Trent as well as Trafford, South Manchester. I mentor students and deliver masterclasses. I am also an Enterprise Advisor for the Careers and Enterprise Company in Staffordshire and a STEM Ambassador.

Additionally I am a Generation Logistics Ambassador aimed at bringing the world of Logistics to a wider audience in an attempt to bring the next generation into the industry as we look at address the talent pipeline shortage particularly amongst under represented groups.
